Aligning the Sector on Farmer Living Income

TRACT is leading the next phase of a sector-wide approach to measuring and closing farmer living income gaps. Sign up to follow the work and explore how to get involved.

TRACT is advancing a farmer income estimation tool originally developed by ofi (olam food ingredients) and Olam Agri. The goal is to enable companies to focus on creating impact through a streamlined approach that delivers insights in a faster and more cost-effective way.

The tool uses a minimal set of data points, grounded in the Living Income Community of Practice and the Anker Methodology, to estimate farmer income without the heavy data collection usually assumed necessary. A built-in scenario modeler shows how interventions like yield improvements, smarter fertilizer use, or price changes can help close living income gaps, giving companies actionable insight into what actually drives change.

This builds on TRACT's ongoing work facilitating pre-competitive alignment on sustainability metrics and methodologies, then embedding those aligned approaches into a platform that makes them practical to use across the industry. We are doing this in close collaboration with IDH, a leading partner in this space, using the ofi and Olam Agri tool as a tangible starting point.

Bringing it to life with a Technical Working Group

To turn this into an aligned, working methodology, TRACT has convened a Technical Working Group* of companies, NGOs, and technical experts. The group is refining the methodology, pressure-testing the tool, and driving toward a transparent, evidence-based approach that can scale across key commodities. We continue to welcome experts who want to contribute. Sign up below to learn more or express interest in joining.

*The Technical Working Group is a pre-competitive collaboration focused on technical alignment. Participation is free and voluntary, and participating organisations independently decide whether and how they use the group's outputs in their own business.
